<p>Roles and Responsibilities</p><p> Understand the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy and the</p><p>responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping</p><p>with this and other compliance policies</p><p> Report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to the manager or</p><p>members either of the senior management team (including the highest level of</p><p>management) directly or through the open reporting system as per Management</p><p>System guidelines</p><p> Guide, advise, and monitor vessel operations; also assists crew performing vessel</p><p>maintenance</p><p> Research technical information related to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions,</p><p>improvements, upgrades or modifications for the reliable long-term performance of</p><p>the vessels</p><p> Prepare for scheduled dry dockings, surveys, and repairs on assigned ships, and</p><p>arranges and manages supply of spares, stores, and services to vessels before</p><p>scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs</p><p> Manage vessels in full compliance with local and international rules and regulations;</p><p>and with company’s Safety Management System (SMS)</p><p> Analyse ships’ performance and relays this information to the onboard master and</p><p>chief engineer; ensures compliance with current charterparty terms of employment</p><p>and other commercial concerns</p><p> Ensure compliance with all necessary operational certification and survey</p><p>requirements applicable to assigned vessels</p><p> Visit vessels port; may sail with Company&#39;s ships to reasonably ascertain that they</p><p>are operated in a safe, reliable and economical way</p><p> Monitor function and performance during ship visits and initiates effective problem</p><p>solving of on-board issues, including technical, quality assurance, health and safety,</p><p>commercial or personnel issues</p><p> Takes ownership of on-board issues and follows them through to resolution</p><p> Prepare budgets in the required detail for the yearly operation of assigned ships,</p><p>scheduled dry dockings, surveys, repairs and ad-hoc modifications and repairs within</p><p>required timelines.</p><p> Monitor expenses of assigned vessels and submits monthly variance reporting and</p><p>tracks against budget</p><p> Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures</p><p> Communicates expectations to direct reports; manages performance and provides</p><p>leadership and support to team members</p><p> Perform other duties as required</p><p>Requirements</p><p> Degree in marine engineering or equivalent</p><p> Must have at least one year of experience as a technical superintendent in a</p><p>company managing handy-max sized (or larger) vessels engaged in international</p><p>trading and must have a minimum of one full year in rank as a chief engineer or have</p><p>completed three contracts as a chief engineer on container vessels</p><p> DF vessel experience is a plus</p><p> Container vessel experience is mandatory</p><p> English language skills, both verbal and written, must be effective and suitable for a</p><p>multi-cultural working environment</p><p> Strong technical knowledge</p><p> Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and</p><p>Excel)</p><p> Class 1 marine engineer certificate</p><p> Demonstrates commitment to Company’s Maritime Resource Management values</p><p> Previous experience with new-builds and dry-dockings preferred</p><p> Regular international travel is required and may be on short notice</p><p> Must have mobility to conduct vessel inspections</p><p> Will be required to carry a mobile device and check regularly outside of office hours</p><p> Must maintain a home internet connection for work outside of office hours</p>
