<p><strong>Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Chief Engineer or Second Engineer</strong> with substantial practical marine engineering experience.</p></li><li><p>Minimum <strong>2-3 years of seafaring experience on offshore DP vessels is mandatory</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience can be a combination of <strong>main fleet and offshore vessels</strong>, provided the candidate has the required<strong> offshore DP vessel experience.</strong></p></li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Travel to vessels as per the annual inspection and rotation plan and remain on board for the required period to carry out detailed vessel inspections.</p></li><li><p>Conduct <strong>thorough, hands-on inspections of vessel machinery, equipment, systems documentation and general technical condition</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Identify, document, priorities and follow up on <strong>technical defects, deficiencies, repairs and maintenance requirements</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Prepare to standardize the vessels – marking on manhole doors, painting of machinery, painting of various walkways, etc. marking on the air vents, etc., conduct Saturday routines, drills on board, etc. </p></li><li><p>Prepare a clear <strong>defect list</strong> and distinguish between:</p><ul><li><p>Items that can be rectified or closed during the vessel visit.</p></li><li><p>Items requiring further action by the vessel, management company, superintendent or shore team.</p></li><li><p>Items requiring spares, specialist attendance, repairs or follow-up.</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Verify whether previously reported defects have actually been rectified and properly closed.</p></li><li><p>Review the availability and condition of <strong>critical and essential spares</strong>, and highlight shortages or urgent requirements.</p></li><li><p>Identify recurring technical issues, poor maintenance practices, equipment deterioration and potential operational risks.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate closely with the company's <strong>Technical Superintendent</strong> and provide recommendations on required corrective actions.</p></li><li><p>Where appropriate and within the scope of authority, assist the vessel team in resolving or closing technical defects.</p></li><li><p>Where the vessel's management company or vessel crew does not provide adequate cooperation, clearly report the issue to the Technical Superintendent and shore management for intervention.</p></li><li><p>Evaluate the crew quality on board & report to respective vessel superintendent. </p></li><li><p>Provide <strong>daily reports while on board</strong>, including open defects, defects closed, spares required, repairs pending, observations and any other matters requiring shore-side attention.</p></li><li><p>Before disembarking from each vessel, provide a <strong>final status report</strong> clearly identifying all outstanding technical matters and required follow-up actions.</p></li><li><p>Maintain clear visibility of the technical condition and outstanding requirements of vessels visited, enabling the shore team to priorities actions across the fleet.</p></li><li><p>Support the Technical Superintendent in following up on open items after the vessel visit when required.</p></li><li><p>Escalate any <strong>critical safety, machinery, operational or compliance-related concern</strong> immediately to the appropriate shore management personnel.</p></li><li><p>Maintain professional independence while working with vessel crew, Masters, Chief Engineers, management companies, and shore-based teams.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Fleet Coverage & Rotation</strong></p><ul><li><p>The company presently operates a fleet of approximately <strong>20 vessels</strong>, and the Technical Auditor will be expected to visit vessels on a planned rotational basis throughout the year.</p></li><li><p>Approximately <strong>6–8 months of the year may be spent on board vessels</strong>, depending on the vessel schedule and inspection requirements.</p></li><li><p>The role requires a high level of mobility and willingness to undertake <strong>extended international travel and vessel assignments</strong>.</p></li><li><p>During periods off rotation, the individual will not have routine operational responsibility but will be expected to remain <strong>reasonably available for communication and technical clarification when required</strong>.</p></li><li><p>The successful candidate must be agreeable to travel & be onboard various vessels for a duration of approximately <strong>240 days per year away from shore</strong>, subject to vessel schedules and operational requirements.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Strong practical understanding of marine machinery, technical systems, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and vessel operations.</p></li><li><p>Experience identifying and assessing technical defects and determining appropriate corrective actions.</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of <strong>planned maintenance, vessel machinery, critical equipment, spare parts and repair requirements</strong>. Hands on knowledge on Mariapps is mandatory. </p></li><li><p>Ability to independently inspect a vessel and identify issues that may not be immediately apparent through routine reporting.</p></li><li><p>Strong report-writing and communication skills, with the ability to provide concise and actionable technical reports.</p></li><li><p>Comfortable coordinating with <strong>Technical Superintendents, Masters, Chief Engineers, vessel crew and third-party management companies</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Should have the confidence and professional maturity to carry out inspections independently and raise concerns where required.</p></li><li><p>Strong attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach to technical problem-solving.</p></li><li><p>Willingness and ability to travel extensively and remain on board vessels for extended periods.</p></li></ul><p></p>
