Description

The Product Manager owns COMPANY’s flagship customer-facing platform for the commercial voyage lifecycle, and the entry point to the wider suite.

Today an operator manages five to seven vessels. Our goal is fifty — with each voyage run more profitably. That asks two things of the platform: workflows that remove manual effort, and decision support that tells the operator what needs attention and why. This role owns both.

This is an AI-first product.
Much of the operator’s day — chasing noon reports, reconciling port costs, spotting a voyage drifting off budget — should run as agents that act, escalate the exceptions, and explain themselves. Autonomy is earned progressively — suggest, then act on approval, then run unattended with exceptions escalated. Designing that path, and the evidence that moves a workflow along it, is central to the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Product Strategy & Roadmap
• Own the platform’s vision, strategy and roadmap — defining where it creates differentiated value in the operator’s day rather than duplicating incumbent systems.

• Define which parts of the operator workflow the platform owns, which it draws from other COMPANY modules, and which it integrates with and leaves alone.

• Identify the operator workflows AI agents can run end-to-end, and decide where each one sits today on the path to full autonomy.

Job Description
• Run discovery with operators and domain experts; prioritise ruthlessly and make the trade-offs explicit.

2. Delivery & Cross-Functional Working
• Take initiatives end-to-end — concept, specification, delivery, launch, iteration — partnering daily with Engineering and Design.
• Write clear requirements covering expected behaviour, edge cases, and the realities of maritime data — incomplete, late and contradictory.
• Specify agent behaviour and the human-in-the-loop: what the agent did, why, how confident it is, and how the operator overrides it — and what evidence earns it the next level of autonomy.

• Work with peer product managers and the platform team so the suite reads as one product, not stitched screens.

• Drive go-to-market readiness with Commercial, Operations and Customer Success.

3. Adoption & Outcomes

• Own adoption and business impact — measured by depth and frequency of use, not registered accounts.

• Track what proves value: vessels per operator, time saved per voyage, cost avoided, and work completed by agents without intervention.

• Close the loop between production usage, customer feedback and the roadmap.

• Treat trust as a product outcome — one confidently wrong recommendation costs more than ten correct ones earn.

• Report honestly on what is working and what is not.

4. Customer & Domain

• Sit with ship operators, owners and charterers regularly — observe the work, don’t only collect requests.

• Work with COMPANY’s maritime domain experts to ensure every product decision reflects real operational context and edge cases.

• Stay current on the maritime technology landscape and competitor offerings, translating relevant insight into the roadmap.
