<p><strong>Educational Qualifications and experience:-</strong></p><ul><li><p>15–24 years with a career built in shipping, logistics, NVOCC, tank/container leasing, or commodity/chemical trading.</p></li><li><p>LLB / LLM from a recognised institution and qualification in International Law.</p></li><li><p>External counsel management: able to engage, coordinate and direct third-party consultants and law firms as and when required — a supplement to in-house judgment, not a substitute for it.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilites and Tasks:-</strong></p><p><strong>Legal Leadership & Team Restructure</strong></p><p>• Act as principal legal officer for the group; own legal, compliance, governance and insurance risk across all entities.</p><p>• Restructure and build out the legal and insurance team -set the operating model, standards and clear lines of accountability.</p><p>• Establish templates, playbooks and escalation/approval matrices that cut turnaround time andreduce dependency on external counsel.</p><p>• Mentor and raise the capability of the existing legal bench. </p><p><strong>Disputes & Arbitration</strong></p><p>• Own the group’s litigation and arbitration portfolio -maritime, commercial, criminal and cross-border recovery matters.</p><p>• Set dispute strategy from early risk assessment through to settlement or award, using in-house domain judgment to steer, not merely coordinate, external counsel.</p><p>• Control legal spend and drive matters to commercial resolution. </p><p><strong>Commercial Contracts</strong></p><p>• Own the full contract lifecycle — ISO-tank and special-container leases, NVOCC and slotarrangements, agency, novation, assignment, vendor and confidentiality agreements.</p><p>• Build and maintain standard templates and a negotiation playbook.</p><p>• Advise on lease structuring and its finance/accounting interface (finance vs. operating lease, IFRS 16) alongside Finance. </p><p><strong>Insurance & Risk</strong></p><p>• Own the group insurance programme — placement, renewals, STC qualification and claims management.</p><p>• Close STC/BL and coverage gaps; feed legal judgment into enterprise risk (sanctions, geopolitical exposure, counterparty credit). </p><p><strong>Regulatory & Compliance</strong></p><p>• Ensure compliance across operating jurisdictions — Indian maritime, customs and commercial law, Singapore corporate law, and applicable PRC and GCC frameworks.</p><p>• Build and run the group compliance calendar, policies and controls.</p>
